This year’s annual Al J. Schneider Leadership Luncheon took place March 6, 2011 at the Galt House, it was hosted by the Lincoln Heritage Council. Former University of Louisville head football coach Lee Corso of ESPN and University of Louisville’s current head football coach Charlie Strong, were featured speakers at the luncheon. This luncheon is expected to raise another $300,000.

The Lincoln Heritage Council began in 1912, it has eight geographical districts and three service areas. The Boy Scouts of America Lincoln Heritage Council is one of the oldest local councils serving both urban and rural areas in the United States. Lincoln Heritage Council #205 is composed of 25 counties—19 in North Central Kentucky and 6 in South Central Indiana.

Qk4 is a long time supporter of the Boy Scouts of America. Our contribution and involvement with the Annual Al J. Schneider Leadership Luncheon marks 16 years of consecutive support of local Boy Scouts. Nearly half of our employees participated in Boy Scouts, and some are current leaders in scouting.

Scouting research shows that one in four boys in America will become Scouts; and, it is interesting to note, three out of four of this nation’s leaders in business, religion, and politics were Boy Scouts. Numbered among the alumni of the Boy Scouts of America are (this information is published on www.scoutingaround.com):

Qk4 prepared construction documents for the structural improvements of the sanctuary. The entire platform was removed and replaced, new concrete grade beams were placed for supporting the new floor, the crawl space walls were tuck pointed, and new finishes were added. Ancillary work included the replacement of the existing furnaces, the addition of lights and receptacles, reconfiguration of furnishings, installation of a new wood floor with marble inlay, and interior painting.
St. Rose is a historic church that has occupied a hilltop in Washington County since 1809 and is ready for another 200 years!

The Parklands of Floyds Fork is unlike any public open space currently being developed anywhere in the country. Four major parks that trace Floyds Fork will be linked by a rural park road and a multi-use trail, known locally as the Louisville Loop. Floyds Fork, a tributary of the Salt River, originating from the northeast and flowing southwest to the Salt River, provides a unique and invaluable natural resource to the region. Characterized by scenic views, riparian vegetation, wildlife, fossils, historic and archaeological sites, the Floyds Fork watershed provides opportunities for recreation and an increased quality of life for local residents and visitors.

Qk4 has been selected for the design and construction-engineering phase of this exciting effort. This phase of the project includes 220 acres of land, a Park Road, the Louisville Loop trail (see below for photograph of a small portion of the Louisville Loop in the construction phase), two bridges over the Floyds Fork tributary (see below for photograph of one bridge in the construction phase), bioengineering and abutment protection for each bridge, retaining walls and parking lots.

The reconstruction of the Kennedy Interchange in downtown Louisville, Kentucky is the largest of six sections of the Louisville Southern Indiana Ohio River Bridges Project (LSIORBP). The image depicts the Kennedy Interchange 2011 Modified Alternative. This reconstructed junction of I-65, I-64, and I-71 will serve some 300,000 vehicles per day. Qk4 is the prime consultant for the Kennedy Interchange Reconstruction 1 Design Team.
The primary goal of the LSIORBP is to improve cross-river mobility for the Louisville-Southern Indiana region. Examination of alternatives to define and evaluate impacts of options to address the region’s cross-river transportation demands was initiated in 1997. These investigations culminated in the Federal Highway Administration’s September 2003 Record of Decision (ROD) for the LSIORBP.
Lately, the Qk4 team has been looking for ways to reduce the cost of the interchange, but still improve safety and reduce congestion. For more information on this project contact Mr. Glen Kelly, PE, at (800)928-2222.
