I’ve been proud to work with Qk4 full-time since 1997, but Qk4 has always been a part of my family, because my dad worked here. I am proud to continue his legacy at the company. While working on my engineering degree, I worked for my dad on the survey crews and then in the transportation department. But before that I worked in the coat room at the company Christmas party when I was 12 years old. Being around the company that long gives me a different view of the company.
I have always liked math and problem solving. In my job I get to do this each day. As a drainage engineer, I keep water off the roads so that people can drive safely and within right of way so homes and property don’t flood. Each drainage project I work on is unique. This makes my work exciting!
One of my favorite projects is the realignment of KY 163 in south-central KY. The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet was extremely pleased with our design work on the project, and my family and I travel on that road every year when we go to a family reunion. My family and I think it is pretty neat to be able to drive on a road that I helped design. We’ve even driven on it during a rainstorm and I’ve been able to verify first hand that it drains well!
