Project Description
Rivercrest Road
Catawba Indian Nation
The Catawba Indian Nation owns a parcel of trust land designated for prime economic development, yet had no functional means of transportation access. Qk4 worked carefully with Tribal leaders to develop a roadway alignment and template that would adequately meet the future development’s transportation capacity needs and furthermore allow for flexibility of multiple economic development options. Included in the design was the development of a bridge over a major stream crossing. Qk4 engineers designed the bridge with innovative techniques allowing the Tribe to qualify for Every Day Counts (EDC) grant funding
Qk4 provided roadway and bridge plans with an adjacent bike lane, and drainage designs for construction of 1.22 miles of two-lane roadway located in the Catawba Indian Nation. Also included were NEPA environmental overview, soil and geotechnical investigations, a storm water pollution prevention plan, rights-of-way maps and plats, construction plans, and supplemental technical specifications. The required field work involved a complete survey, including land ties, break lines, topography, horizontal and vertical control.
