ROADWAY DESIGN

We work in partnership with our clients to identify their specific needs and goals and then tailor a plan to bring about the successful completion of their project. Our roadway design projects include urban and rural highways; corridor location studies; highway drainage structures; complex construction phasing and the ultimate development of contract plans. In order to efficiently prepare plans and studies, we use a variety of the latest design software to adapt to each client’s preferences.

Our clients include Departments of Transportation in Kentucky, West Virginia, Tennessee, Indiana, Georgia, North Carolina and Virginia, as well as local and surrounding area public works and transportation departments.

BRIDGE DESIGN

Our bridge design experience ranges from highway and railroad, to those across single-lane county roads and bridges spanning multi-lane interstates. Our bridge projects can be found in high seismic areas, stream crossings with high scour potential, and intricate construction phasing to maintain traffic.

CONSTRUCTION MANAGEMENT

Stewardship is what construction engineering and inspection is all about overseeing projects and protecting the interests of taxpayers, highway users, residents and other stakeholders. This is an important responsibility. We are the engineering firm to help fulfill these obligations and to comply with Federal Highway Administration regulations.

We have a full staff of project engineers and certified inspectors with extensive experience in the management and field inspection for highways, utility installation, and transportation enhancement projects in the construction phase. We have provided these services for both public and private sector projects, ranging from interstate interchange construction to complex urban street and utility reconstruction work.

SURVEYING SERVICES

Land surveying practices have drastically evolved in recent decades. The speed and accuracy at which field survey data is collected has increased productivity and efficiency, but often that field data is compiled the same way as it was a hundred years ago, onto a paper survey plat. Now, digital media and three dimensional digital survey files give our land surveyors the platform to analyze, compile, and deliver field survey data in a more accurate and understandable format.

Our goal is to provide our clients a more useable product that they can rely on. We are committed to employing new survey technology to gather information in ways that will increase production, improve precision and enhance the presentation of our surveys. Advances in GIS reference data, 3D terrestrial laser scanning, ground penetrating radar, and LiDAR mapping have given our land surveyors opportunities to collect usable data faster, more precise and at a greater volume than ever before.

LAND ACQUISITION

We offer land acquisition and relocation assistance services with a vast knowledge of the acquisition and relocation process for all types of properties. For many projects, acquiring right-of-way creates risk to construction schedules. Our unique perspective and ability to communicate effectively and efficiently with property owners is a key factor to our success in reducing or eliminating those risks.

We understand the importance of careful documentation, consistency and sensitivity in the land acquisition process. Our experience covers all phases of the process for acquiring residential, industrial, commercial, institutional, and rural or agricultural properties. We conduct right of way acquisition and relocations in conformity with the Uniform Act.
